A Who’s Who of the Syrian civil war and ceasefire

by Aram Mirzaei
Since last week the Syrian ceasefire deal been in full effect. Despite repeated violations during this week, world leaders commit to putting their faith in this temporary truce. The Syrian ceasefire does however not cover the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Jabhat Al-Nusra, the Syrian Al-Qaeda branch, and other designated terrorist groups.

Ukraine SITREP March 4th, 2016 by Scott

A great Russian doctor, a pure genius, Zurab Kekelidze, once said that we can’t begin every morning with the news about a war next door. If we do, we are at risk for developing posttraumatic stress disorder that may never go away. To add a little good news, humor and clean fun to our daily dose of war news, I started posting short entertaining videos of different places and corners of the biggest country in the world, Russia. If you have a moment, please, check them out.

Hillary’s Secret Letter and the Whole Matter of Endless War and the Almost Complete Corruption of America’s Government (UPDATED!)

Foreword by the Saker: to be honest, I have not been following the latest presidential race in the USA.  Simply put, I have long lost any hope to see any change come from any election in the USA.  Changing the puppet makes no difference as long as the puppeteer remains the same one.  Still, I think that there are at least two main puppeteers in the USA: what I call the “Old Anglo” guard and the Neocons.  And while these two agree on a lot, there are some real differences between them.

“Russia’s Foreign Policy: Historical Background”

by Sergei Lavrov

International relations have entered a very difficult period, and Russia once again finds itself at the crossroads of key trends that determine the vector of future global development.

Many different opinions have been expressed in this connection including the fear that we have a distorted view of the international situation and Russia’s international standing. I perceive this as an echo of the eternal dispute between pro-Western liberals and the advocates of Russia’s unique path. There are also those, both in Russia and outside of it, who believe that Russia is doomed to drag behind, trying to catch up with the West and forced to bend to other players’ rules, and hence will be unable to claim its rightful place in international affairs. I’d like to use this opportunity to express some of my views and to back them with examples from history and historical parallels.

Russian victory at the UN: a two-part analysis by Alexander Mercouris

by Alexander Mercouris for Russia Insider
Russia obtain a further UN Security Council Resolution conforming with the “cessation of hostilities” agreement Russia negotiated with the US – this time with American support
A week ago, amidst Turkish shelling of Kurdish positions in Syria and talk of a Turkish invasion, the Russians proposed a Resolution to the UN Security Council reaffirming Syria’s sovereignty.
The Resolution was blocked by the US and its allies.

How The Russian Air Super Power Changed the Middle East

Since it’s February 23, the Fatherland’s Defender Day, it would be appropriate to analyze the initial impact of Russia’s forces in Syria. First of all, Russian aircraft have been in combat for almost five months and secondly, the Syrian campaign is on the threshold of a pause largely thanks to the Russian forces.

On Sunday, February 21, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry reached a preliminary agreement on a ceasefire in Syria. Commenting on their phone discussions, Kerry said that “the ceasefire is now closer than ever.” The US State Department later disseminated a joint statement which states that Moscow and Washington offered the warring parties in Syria to stop fighting on February 27 at midnight (Damascus time). This ceasefire does not extend to ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra, and other organizations designated as terrorist by the UN. The statement emphasizes that Russian and Syrian aircraft will stop attacking Syrian opposition during the ceasefire.

Who needs war with peace like this?

Comment by Larchmonter445

To all who predict the inevitable war, wherever your mind thinks it will transpire:
It is a requirement of that prediction to tell us what the Order of Battle shall be.
For instance, China attacked by the US.
Or, Turkey and US/NATO/Arabs with oil attacking Russia.
Or, Turkey and the nazis of Ukraine attacking Russia.
Or, some Israeli (Zio-whatever you want) false flag attack that results in attacking Russia.

Wicked Games: US 'Uses Terrorism as Main Mechanism of Its Foreign Policy

The US media's allegations that Moscow is pursuing its own interests in Syria are irrelevant because Russia's anti-terror air campaign there was agreed upon with the Syrian authorities, according to military expert Alexander Zhilin.

In an interview with RT, Russian military analyst Alexander Zhilin said that US media allegations that Russia is pursuing its own interests in Syria are "absolute nonsense", given that Moscow "cooperates there with the legitimately elected president."

Did the US Treasury, IRS just threaten Vatican Bank before Pope Francis meeting with Patriarch Kirill? by Scott

Today, I want to tell you a huge secret. The deepest and the biggest Russian secret of all.
The secret so profound that it will shake your entire being.
Wait for it…
The Head of the Russian Orthodox Church His Holiness Patriarch Kirill meets with Pope of Rome Frances on February 12th, 2016 in Havana, Cuba to discuss something about the plight of Christians. We don’t know what they will discuss, but we can speculate.
Some say that the Patriarch and Pope will meet in Havana in the first time for 10 centuries to discuss how to send Hillary to Hell. It’s as good of a theory as any.

One Size Does Not Fit All!

This comment was chosen by Mod HS from the post “Turkey’s Gates To Europe”.  The moderator believes this comment is interesting because it asks where did it all go wrong for the US? Looking back it seems all their best laid plans have not gone the way they hoped and they are left floundering.
Comment by Bilito

Which is the plot that went wrong?
Let’s have a look on the facts and turn the clock back to when the strategic plans for the current U.S. administration where made (2007-08):

Immigrant Crisis: Facts, Myth or Plot?

The designed, created and carefully articulated immigrant flow to Europe, generating one of the biggest crises in after the Cold War as the byproduct of US waged wars in the Middle East, is rolling out according to the already written screenplay. As the pretext for rising extreme right sectors within the EU boundaries, revival of nationalism, racism and fascism, dramatic changes to European societies bring to the reality inter ethnic and inter-religion confrontations which painfully remind Europeans to some previous Apocalypses which took out over 60 million lives killed just in WWII.

Russia deploys the most advanced air-defense systems on the planet in Syria

With respect to the S-400, much has been written about it and I won't rehash it all here. How about we simply say that its detection range comes to the extent 600km and that its "engagement vault" has a 400km span and a 56km tallness. Actually, the S-400+Pantsir-S2 combo is the thing that at present ensures the city of Moscow! As it were, the Russians have truly sent in Syria the most impressive air protection capabilities on the planet. For the "under the hood" specs of the SU-35S please see here. All that really matters is this: both as far as power(engine power , reach and radar power) and capability (amount and nature of weapons) the SU-35S is presently the most advanced military flying machine on the planet. It is difficult to know what the Russians know, be that as it may, on the off chance that I may use that similarity, when you see a animal take up a run of a combat position you can accept that it has seen something which it is presently responding to. What is clear to me is that the Russians have as of late significantly expanded their qualitative abilities and on the off chance that I consolidate this expansion is capacities with the sort of dialect I get notification from Russian authorities consistently I can just reason this is in response to Turkey's moves. I know, this is not really weighty, and I am not asserting that I came up with something new or unique here, all I am stating that what Russia does (deploying some to a great degree propelled systems) appears to authenticate what she says (that Turkey is planning something naughty and that the West might need to do something to stop this).

Turkey’s Gates To Europe

The story of refugees flocking into Europe, and the avalanche of repercussions that followed, remains to be a conundrum that many involved individuals, including some seasoned analysts, are at pains to unravel.

Any denial that those refugees had brought with them very bad elements is a denial of a truth that is so loud and clear. And when some highly competent authors wrote about this and were attacked and called Fascists and racists, those who made those accusations must be living in a dungeon that lives by rules that do not exist anywhere on this planet. Not that I wish any harm to anyone, but I would just wonder what would those critics do or say if it was their own sisters, girlfriends, daughters and mothers getting ganged raped in the streets!

Anti-Putin opposition leader Kasyanov caught in Strasbourg with his pants down and blames Kadyrov

I am convinced now that Kadyrov is a political and PR genius.
To trap the liberals in their own webs, he has posted on his Instagram account a video taken by a hidden camera of Kasyanov, an apparatchik from so called “PARNAS” party, in Strasbourg meeting with the official representatives from NATO countries to receive money to conduct anti-government operations in Russia.
As you can see it’s just an art, an expressive art. But, liberals have no taste in art.

Kasyanov, a former Communist party apparatchik and a Yeltsin appointed Prime Minister in 2000-2004, earned a nickname “Misha 2 percent” because this was the bribe he demanded from every business transition in the country.
“Kasyanov was dismissed, along with the entire cabinet, by President Vladimir Putin on 24th February 2004 after more than three years in office.” [Wikipedia]

After the Prophet

Foreword by the Saker: It is a real pleasure for me to submit to you a most interesting article about the history of Islam in general, and about a form of Sunni Islam in Saudi Arabia which is rarely discussed or even mentioned.  Being a Christian myself, a take no position on any of the view presented in this article other than welcoming an informed discussion.  What I am absolutely sure of, however, is that the AngloZionists are deliberately trying to create a “clash of civilizations” and that they are trying to present Islam as a monolithic threat to “the western world”, the “Christian West”, “freedom and democracy”, etc. etc. etc.  Oh sure, there is a very real threat out there: the type of Wahabi Takfirism which Daesh embodies nowadays.  But Daesh is, first and foremost, a mortal threat to all other forms of Islam and this is why treating all of Islam as a monolithic threat is just about the dumbest thing we – westerners or Christians – could do.  Intelligent choices can only come from a good understanding of the nature of the reality surrounding us.  This is why understanding Islam as much as we can ought to be a goal for each one of us.  I am deeply grateful to Hamza Haidar for allowing us a glimpsed into a world that most of us know little about.

Putin’s biggest failure

This article was written for the Unz Review (the actual link will be provided as soon as the UR posts this article)

Whatever happens in the future, Putin has already secured his place in history as one of the greatest Russian leaders ever. Not only did he succeed in literally resurrecting Russia as a country, but in a little over a decade he brought her back as a world power capable of successfully challenging the AngloZionist Empire. The Russian people have clearly recognized this feat and, according to numerous polls, they are giving him an amazing 90% support rate. And yet, there is one crucial problem which Putin has failed to tackle: the real reason behind the apparent inability of the Kremlin to meaningfully reform the Russian economy.

Iran versus US: Iran Wins

The lifting of sanctions is an unequivocal victory for Iran, sealing its regional position, and leaving its nuclear capability intact

by Alexander Mercouris for Russia Insider.

Confirmation that international sanctions on Iran have at last been lifted is unequivocally a victory for Iran.

The sanctions should never have been imposed in the first place.

Israel vs Iran: Israel loses, *big* time

Today I have already posted to excellent analyses of the (possibly temporary) failure of the USA to submit Iran to its will: one by Alexander Mercouris, the other by Soraya Sepahpour Ulrich.  I shall not repeat their very arguments here, mainly because both see this as a conflict between the USA and Iran, whereas I see that as a conflict between Israel and Iran in which Israel attempted, but failed, to get the USA to fight on its behalf.  This is also, albeit to a lesser degree, a conflict opposing the House of Saud to Iran, and the KSA is the other big loser here.  But first, let us look at the real causes of this confrontation.
