APC members plan mass defection in Ogun, Oyo, Edo



Aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress are preparing to ditch the party, following disagreements over the recently concluded ward congresses.
It was learnt that the party’s chapters in Edo, Kaduna, Oyo and Ogun states appeared to be the worst hit, as members had inundated appeal committees with protests over the congresses.
SUNDAY PUNCH gathered in Abuja on Friday that members of the APC in the states were threatening to leave the party.....

INEC Registers Unity Party Of Nigeria, Total Parties Now 26





The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has registered the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) as one of the political party in the country.
The registration of UPN the number of parties to 26.

INEC’s Director of Education, Oluwale Uzzi announced UPN’s registration on Friday.
“The commission at its meeting held on Thursday April 17, approved the registration of the UPN, the applicant having met the legal requirements for registration.

A group of close to a dozen prostitutes recently got Kenyan Senator Mike Sonko’s phone number. They have since been sending him raunchy WhatsApp picture messages, and promising to offer their ‘goodies’ in exchange for cash or employment.

“At first I was shocked when I received the nude photos. I wanted to seek legal action, but later realised they were underprivileged Kenyans desperate to make ends meet. I offered to help them, and so invited them to my office and offered to buy them business equipment that would keep them off the streets,” reveals the Senator.

Nyanya, Abuja Blast - Lagos NURTW Moves To Install CCTV At Motor Parks



To forestall tragedies at major motor parks in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial nerve centre, the Lagos State Chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) is finalising plans to install Circuit Camera Televisions (CCTV) at its motor parks.  According to Chairman of the union, Mr. Tajudeen Agbede, security officers would, in addition be appointed for the parks, while appoint security officers would also be formally trained on best methods to secure the parks.
“The union has agreed to appoint a chief security officer in each of its units across the state to beef up security, so as to prevent such experience in Lagos,” Agbede said in reference to the blast in Nyanya Motor Park on April 14, which resulted in the death of more than 80 people and injuries to at least 124.

Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa tells Pres.Jonathan to seek re-election



The Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa I, has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to get re-election even as he urged him not to be distracted by the wave of disturbances in areas of the country.
He assured the President that the spirit of the ancestors of the Benin kingdom would see him through.
The monarch's message was brought to the President by his first son, Ambassador Eheneden Erediuwa, who was accompanied to the Presidential Villa by the Chairman, Ocean Marine Tankers Limited, Capt. Hosa Okunbo.
