Obama, US gov't must be removed to save mankind - presidential candidate LaRouche



Eight-time presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche Jr., who wrote an open letter to Congress calling for impeachment of President Barack Obama a few days ago, an interview with the Voice of Russia shared his opinion on US foreign politics, the current situation in Ukraine and the NSA surveillance program’s violation of the constitution.

"As the following attests, during his time in office President Obama has lied repeatedly to the American people and the Congress and has subverted the US Constitution on behalf of foreign interests—the British/Saudi axis—and its allies. In his recent adventure in Ukraine, he is about to lead the United States into World War III." So reads a letter by Lyndon LaRouche Jr., published in the Washington Times a few days ago.

Riot at Bowen University over lack of basic amenities




There was riot at Bowen University Iwo in Osun State last night. According to some students, the riot was over what they say is lack of basic amenities like water and light as well as what they term'unnecessary rules & regulations'being made by school management, plus plans to increase their school fees.

The boys destroyed school property, vehicles and vandalized their chaplain's home. As the students were on rampage, the college security personnel fled but the police was eventually called in to calm things down

The suspects who have been identified as Sabo Rabo of Durr Katanga Village, Bitrus Yakubu of Dado Village and Mohammed Bamigboye of Durr Katanga Village will be charged to court.

Tape Reveals, Boko Haram assault weapons Shipped To Nigeria From Turkey



Turkey allegedly shipped weapons to unidentified groups in Nigeria, which has been ravaged by violence between the army and Boko Haram militants, a new incriminating phone call revealed on Tuesday.

The leaked conversation is the latest blow to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has been hit by a corruption probe ensnaring his key allies and a widening phone-tapping scandal.

In a tape posted on YouTube, Mehmet Karatas, an assistant executive of the airline, allegedly tells Mustafa Varank, an advisor to Erdogan, that he feels guilty over national flag carrier’s arms shipment to Nigeria.

“I do not know whether these (weapons) will kill Muslims or Christians. I feel sinful,” Karatas is allegedly heard saying.

Members of BMW clubs across South Africa came in numbers to the funeral of skilled spinner, Bongani Makhubo (40) of Soshanguve, Tshwane.  As the cars spun around in circles, spectators cheered. Then a young woman took off her panties and began dancing in the middle of the spinning cars. But not everyone was pleased to see her waving her underwear in the air. John Lelaka said: “People are allowed to celebrate but not in a way that disturbs other people’s peace.”

 Remember Mori Gabriella ? The young model that has been beaten up by her boyfriend three weeks ago. Gabriella's boyfriend had constantly questioned her about cheating and flirting. And on that fateful day in a fit of rage, he beat her up so bad, threw her out of his moving vehicle and left her to die.

Kano deports beggars to their respective States



The Kano State Government has sent 33 beggars to their states of origin as part of efforts to enforce the law banning street begging in the state.

The Director General of the State Hisba Board, Dr Abba Sufi, told the journalists in Kano that the repatriation commenced on Wednesday.

It will be recalled that Gov. Rabi’u Kwankwaso signed the Street Begging Prohibition Bill into law on Dec. 19, 2013.

FG may remove petrol, kerosene subsidies



The Federal Government may have concluded plans to stop subsidising the consumption of petroleum products in the country, especially petrol and kerosene following increasingly dwindling revenue.  The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, gave the clearest hint yet of the planned removal of subsidies on both products by the Federal Government on Tuesday at the ongoing Nigerian Oil and Gas Conference in Abuja.

Pastor in custody for allegedly defrauding church member



The Pastor of Christ Citizen Glorious Assembly, Okota, Lagos, Pastor Ikechukwu Ezeiru, has been charged with fraud at an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court. He was arraigned on Tuesday for allegedly defrauding a church member, Ifeanyi Ohazurume, of N7m. The police said Ezeiru collected the money to help the defendant purchase auction goods from the Nigerian Customs Service. He allegedly didn’t return the money or the goods.
It was learnt that the pastor claimed to have given the money to his wife, who equally claimed to have passed it to someone else.

  This fire incident happened many hours ago but has since been put out by the fire service.

The Mobil filling station at Akilo road by Oba Akran in Ikeja was razed by fire around 6 this morning after a fuel tanker supplying fuel to the station hit a metal rod while trying to make its way to the filling station. The fire that ensued burnt at the least five cars, the tanker was also completely burnt.

US lawyers Seek Repatriation Of Abacha Loot To Nigeria -SERAP



Two US senior lawyers and professors of law have asked Eric Holder, Jr. the Attorney General of United States of America to without delay repatriate the sum of $458 million assets stolen by the former dictator late General Sani Abacha and his accomplices.
The lawyers Alexander Sierck and Nicholai Diamond of Cameron LPP in Washington DC sent the letter dated 18 March 2014 as Volunteer Counsel for Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP).

FG rejects delegates’ request for aides’ allowance



The Federal Government has rebuffed request by some of the delegates to the ongoing national conference that their personal aides be paid by the government.  Each of the delegates are to receive N12m for the three months exercise. The allowance include money for accommodation, transportation, part of feeding (the delegates are to have free lunch at the venue of the conference. However, the delegates are expected to have aides such as drivers and personal assistants in order to ease their works and movements.

GEJ nominates Zainab Bulkachuwa as Court of Appeal President



President Goodluck Jonathan this afternoon nominated Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa to become the President of the Second Highest Court in Nigeria, the Appeal Court. The President sent her name to the senate for ratification, after which she'd be confirmed and sworn-in.  Justice Bulkachuwa prior to this nomination has been serving in acting capacity whilst the president of the court since November 2012 when Justice Dalhatu Adamu retired from Office.

National Confab: Delegates demand allowance for their aides, owners



Some delegates of the newly constituted National Conference which had its first session yesterday in Abuja have asked for financial allowances to be made available to their aides who they say would help ease the burden of the task before them.
 
Each delegate is to collect N12million as incentive for participating in the confab which is expected to last for 3 months..but that money is not enough, they also want their PAs and drivers to be paid
"We need to know the number of aides we are to employ,” One of the delegates, Senator Mohammed Jibrin enquired from the leaders.

 An accident involving three vehicles, one carry 19 Redeemed church members, occurred on Monday along the Potiskum-Maiduguri highway leaving all the Redeemed church members burnt beyond recognition and 16 others dead. Confirming the accident, the Federal Road Safety Commission spokesman in Yobe State, Mr Yusuf Sani, said the church members were said to be coming back from a church programme in Lagos when the accident happened
"All the 19 members of Redeemed Christian Church of God who were traveling in one bus were burnt beyond recognition as the bus caught fire on collision with the other two vehicles which also burst in flames shortly afterwards,” said Yusuf Sani

Gov. Fashola Flags Off 6th Lagos Climate Change Summit, Advocates reversal of Anti-Climate choices




 “The commitment with which we have addressed the issues of Climate Change has helped us to stay abreast and safe against the hazards of nature”, he says
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Tuesday flagged off the State’s 6th Climate Change Summit saying the only way to save the Planet Earth from the adverse consequences of Climate Change was to reverse the choices made by humanity which have resulted in the change.  Fashola, who spoke at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island venue of the three-day Summit, warned that the reversal of the choices was no longer a matter of the future but must commence immediately if the Planet must be saved from further devastation and exploitation.

LASU gets 4000 Pounds British Council Research Award




The British Council has recently awarded the Lagos State University (LASU), 4000 Pounds research grant through the Researchers’ Link Scheme to investigate the mechanism through which physical activities affects changes in the ageing of the brain.  According to Professor Benjamin Aribisala, a Professor of Computer Science in LASU, through whom the award was granted to LASU, the award will allow for collaboration between himself and Dr. Alan Gow of Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom, to combine their expertise in Computer Science, Medical Image Analysis, Statistics, Epidemiology, Psychology and Cognitive Ageing to conduct the clinical research.
